PRIVACY NOTICE FOR USERS ACCESSING THE WEBSITE

The Digital Travel Summit is one of Europe's premier gatherings for Marketing, eCommerce and Digital leaders in the travel industry. Now in its 10th edition, the event brings together senior decision-makers from across the sector to benchmark strategies, explore emerging technologies and navigate the future of travel in an AI-driven world. Held at the prestigious Hurlingham Club in London, the Summit combines a packed conference programme with a dedicated exhibition area and structured networking — making it a key moment for connection and innovation within the travel industry.

Accessiway at the Digital Travel Summit

Accessiway was present with a dedicated exhibition stand in the Palm Court area, where we offered visitors a hands-on Blindfolded Experience — a live demonstration that put attendees in the shoes of users with visual impairments, letting them experience firsthand how digital barriers affect real journeys. Visitors who took on the challenge competed for valuable prizes, including Meta VR glasses. Our team was also on hand throughout the two days to consult directly with travel brands on their digital accessibility maturity and EAA compliance strategies.

Our Speech: "From Overlooked to Overbooked"

Presented by Jan Stedul, MD Accessiway Germany, and Melanie Defries, PR & Content

The session made the business case for digital accessibility in the travel sector, challenging the audience to look beyond compliance and see accessibility as a commercial opportunity. Drawing on Accessiway's proprietary consumer research across 5,000 users in Germany, Austria, France, Italy and the UK, the speakers revealed that 85% of consumers regularly encounter barriers that prevent them from completing digital tasks — and 61% abandon purchases entirely as a result. Notably, under-35s were identified as the group most likely to quit, dispelling the myth that accessibility is only a concern for older users or those with a disability. The talk estimated over €50 billion in annual EU e-commerce transactions at risk due to these barriers.

The speech walked through the global regulatory landscape — from the European Accessibility Act (EAA) to the UK Equality Act, the US ADA and Swiss BehiG — underscoring that companies operating internationally are accountable in every market they serve. A detailed case study on Radisson Hotels illustrated what a full accessibility transformation looks like in practice: from multi-platform WCAG audits and expert remediation to winning Gold at the International Customer Experience Awards 2025 for Digital Transformation.
