Für viele Menschen ist der morgendliche Kaffee ein kleines Ritual: ein Moment der Ruhe, bevor alles beginnt. Wenn diese Geste von einer App abhängt, darf sie nicht zum Hindernis werden. Genau hier haben wir mit Lavazza angesetzt.

This website integrates accessWidget, an automated accessibility tool developed by accessiBe Ltd. and distributed by AccessiWay. The widget allows users to personalize their browsing experience based on their needs.

When the user activates the widget, their IP address is technically transmitted, but:

 

  • it is not stored, tracked, or associated with identifiable individuals;

  • it is anonymized via a proxy located in the European Union;

  • it is not used for profiling or marketing purposes.

Es ist sieben Uhr morgens. Ein Elternteil hält sein Kind im Arm und versucht mit der freien Hand, den Kaffee über die App zu starten.

Das Handy balanciert prekär in seiner Hand. Sein Daumen tastet sich vor, wohin er kann – ein Auge auf dem Bildschirm, das andere beim Baby.

Ein Tipp geht daneben – und sie beginnt von vorn.

In diesem Moment stößt der Elternteil auf Barrieren, die denen von Menschen mit einer Behinderung ähneln. Hier entstehen sie jedoch allein durch die Situation. Das passiert jedem, mehrmals am Tag: zum Beispiel, wenn die Hände voll sind.

Kaffee ohne Hindernisse: das Lavazza-Projekt

Für viele Menschen ist der morgendliche Kaffee ein kleines Ritual: eine Geste, die jeden Tag auf dieselbe Weise wiederholt wird, ein Moment der Ruhe, bevor alles beginnt. Wenn diese Geste von einer App abhängt, darf sie nicht zum Hindernis werden.

Genau hier haben wir mit Lavazza angesetzt. Unser Ziel war nicht nur, zwei Apps barrierefrei zu machen, sondern das Starten des Kaffees für alle einfach zu gestalten: für Menschen, die einen Screenreader nutzen, für Menschen mit einer dauerhaften Behinderung – und für alle, die in diesem Moment einfach nur eine Hand frei haben.

Die Arbeit fand auf zwei miteinander verbundenen Ebenen statt: der Integration der Apps mit den vernetzten Kaffeemaschinen und der Vereinfachung des Ablaufs – mit weniger Schritten und weniger Aufmerksamkeit auf dem Weg zur Tasse Kaffee.

Die Herausforderung: zwei Apps, ein Gerät, eine Kette, die nicht reißen darf

Die vernetzten Kaffeemaschinen von Lavazza werden über zwei Apps gesteuert, die Tablì App und die Piacere Lavazza App, die per Bluetooth oder WLAN mit der Maschine verbunden sind.

Das verändert die Arbeitsweise des Teams: Jede Korrektur muss entlang der gesamten Kette getestet und validiert werden – vom Betriebssystem des Smartphones über die App-Oberfläche bis hin zum Dialog mit der physischen Maschine.

Wir können einen Button in der App reparieren. Doch wenn der Befehl die Maschine nicht erreicht, hat sich für die Person, die sie nutzt, nichts verändert.

Die Schwelle für den Accessiway Digital Accessibility Badge ist klar definiert: null kritische Fehler und ein Barrierefreiheits-Score von über 90 % auf beiden Apps.

Maschinen an, der Live-Test beginnt

Ein Remote-Test allein reichte nicht aus. Ein Remote-Audit zeigt, ob eine Komponente korrekt beschriftet ist, aber nicht, was passiert, wenn jemand sein Handy in die Hand nimmt und versucht, einen Kaffee zuzubereiten.

Also haben wir es vor Ort gemacht. Drei Testtermine vor Ort, mit eingeschalteten Geräten, Seite an Seite mit den Produkt- und Entwicklungsteams von Lavazza.

Wir haben den gesamten Ablauf getestet:

Handy → App → Maschine → Kaffee in der Tasse.

Diese Überprüfung vor Ort, mit der Hardware direkt zur Hand, steht im Zentrum unseres Hardware & Software Audit-Services: der Schnittstelle, an der sich physische und digitale Barrierefreiheit treffen.

Die Zutaten des Projekts

Der Multiplikatoreffekt: Wenn eine Korrektur doppelt wirkt

Die Piacere Lavazza App erreichte den Badge-Standard in kürzester Zeit, dank der modularen Struktur des Touchpoints.

Hier wird die Arbeit zur Investition. Jede Korrektur, die an der Tablì App vorgenommen wurde, war bereits für die Piacere Lavazza App einsatzbereit. Wir haben nicht bei null angefangen. Zum zweiten Audit kamen wir mit bereits umgesetzten Korrekturen, validierten Erkenntnissen und einem Entwicklungsteam, das inzwischen die Sprache der Barrierefreiheit sprach.

Und dieses Kapital bleibt für zukünftige Releases und neue Produkte im gesamten Ökosystem von Lavazza verfügbar.

Die Autonomie des internen Teams aufbauen

Wir haben nicht einfach eine Liste von Korrekturen übergeben.

Wir haben den Teams von Lavazza geholfen, die Logik hinter jeder Korrektur zu verstehen, damit sie ihren Entwicklungsdienstleister präzise steuern können: Das Richtige auf die richtige Weise einfordern – mit weniger Hin und Her und einem Team, das langfristig Verantwortung für die eigene Compliance übernimmt.

Eine gemeinsame Methode für Tests und Remediation schaffen

Eine Methode, die bleibt. Die Dokumentation und die Testmethodik, die wir hinterlassen, enden nicht bei diesen zwei Apps: Sie werden zur Arbeitsweise des Teams.

Kehren wir zurück zu dem Elternteil mit seinem Kind im Arm, der versucht, mit einer Hand einen Kaffee zu starten.

Nach der Remediation funktioniert diese Geste jetzt. Entscheidend ist jedoch, was über den einzelnen Moment hinaus bleibt: Bei Lavazza entsteht internes Know-how, um Barrierefreiheit zu erkennen und voranzutreiben – und eine solide Basis korrigierter Komponenten, auf der jedes neue Release von Anfang an aufbauen kann.

Barrierefreiheit hört auf, ein Projekt mit einem Enddatum zu sein – und wird zu einer festen Art zu bauen. Und Lavazza weiß das: Nach der Zertifizierung beider Apps hat das Unternehmen die Partnerschaft mit Accessiway für neue Projekte verlängert. Die Arbeit geht weiter.
